Time to announce our first employee of the month 2022! Congratulations to the wonderful Hana Jordan!
As we enter the start of an exciting new year, we are excited to announce our January Employee of the Month, Hana Jordan! Since joining ClickThrough in July as Executive Director of Public Relations and Communications, Hana has gone from strength to strength, and has continued to secure excellent results for our clients. We were able to sit down with Hana to find out more about our newest employee of the month!

Can you tell us a little bit about your role here at ClickThrough?
I am the Executive Director of Public Relations and Communications and work closely with our Head of Public Relations and Communications, Jenny Lindhoff. My role is to increase brand awareness to a diverse group of clients we have here at ClickThrough. This is done through a combination of digital PR campaigns and support our SEO team with the growth of backlinks for our clients. Besides, we build relationships with journalists to share our clients’ news and interviews in the wider media.
What is your favorite part of your role?
Great question, I like many things in PR! First, I like to get creative with different campaigns for different clients. It is very diverse with the different trends and the constant changes currently taking place in the media, hence the ability to build and grow my relationships with both clients and journalists is one of my favourite. The nature of public relations means that it is always unpredictable and fast-paced, so I always find it very satisfying to be able to find ways to enhance a company’s reputation and brand awareness by working on that company’s individual strengths. Finally, being able to work with such a diverse range of clients here at ClickThrough, it’s great to handle different campaigns in unique and individual ways depending on the company and sector they’re in.
What do you plan to spend your voucher on?
I was thinking and would love to use it to contribute to something travel related. I love my travel and I love exploring new places so if I could put it down to exploring a new place or even taking a day trip somewhere within the UK that would be great. Given all the coronavirus restrictions over the past couple of years, travel has been a bit difficult, so I’d like to make up for lost time this year.
What do you say you gained from working at ClickThrough?
It’s been 6 months since I’ve been on ClickThrough! When I look back right after my graduation, I’ve progressed a lot and grown exponentially in my role. I enjoyed the experience of taking my educational knowledge and putting that into practice within the agency. Also, working with Jenny has been great, she has supported me and pushed me to be the best I can be here. With all of this, I’m proud to see my results over the past 6 months, get excellent results and links to publications like “The Sun” And “Daily Mail” And “Belfast Live”. I think more specifically, my confidence has grown exponentially, and I am now better at building relationships with both clients and journalists. It’s going to have to do with trust, of course, and as you get those good results, it motivates you to go out and build those relationships even more. Being inside the agency allowed me to learn about the different departments, such as Paid Social and SEO and how they can collaborate with PR.
You landed your role at ClickThrough within a few weeks of graduating, what did you do to make it happen?
I’ve been pretty much out of university straight into the job, which has been great for me as I was able to jump straight into the industry and land the job quickly. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy because it was a competitive industry, but for me, the main advantage was that I got out and got some hands-on experience by volunteering at Birmingham Jazz Radio. Having this experience was very beneficial not only for the first-hand experience I had that I could fill this position, but it also showed that I had a passion for PR. Besides, I was told that my resume stood out compared to other applicants due to its vibrant and creative use. I re-organized my content so that my PR expertise and related skills were all on top, making sure to highlight them and my passion for PR.

After studying the theory behind public relations and marketing, how did you find the transition to work within the industry?
While in university, I was studying fashion merchandising and merchandising, I had about three modules focusing on public relations, and then of course there are a lot of transferable skills that I was able to transfer into my PR role. It just goes to show that you don’t necessarily need a PR degree if you’re passionate and can benefit from transferable skills from your experiences. In college, I learned skills such as looking at trends throughout the year and drawing inspiration from specific days that you can associate with a client, such as National Bed Day for a mattress company. However, since I was at ClickThrough, I learned about SEO and improved my press release writing skills. In general, I think you can learn theory, but there is no such thing as learning on the job and immersion in the industry.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Firstly, I would say on the positive, I am definitely a half full glass person. Second, I work hard because I always want to push myself to be my best. And then thirdly, I like to think I’m creative too, I’ve always been creative since I was young so the opportunity to express that within my PR role has been a huge appeal for me.
Do you have any inspirational words for anyone considering joining ClickThrough?
For anyone considering joining ClickThrough, I would say a go! If you are enthusiastic and passionate about the sector you want to work in, that enthusiasm will shine through in the interview. Even going on LinkedIn and connecting with people and telling them who you are is a great way to build relationships.
