Full-time fixed-term for 12 months

Diversity is paramount in design as is Winchester’s ambition to be the UK’s leading art school. Part of the University of Southampton, a founding member of the prestigious research-led Russell Consortium of Universities, we are currently restructuring to accelerate the pace of change. So it’s a great time to join us. We are not only setting our sights high, but also broadening our horizons. This will make us the inclusive organization, employer, and teacher we must be as we continue to evolve.
We are currently seeking a Junior Graphic Designer for our interior design studio at The Winchester School of Art. The studio became an essential resource and part of the school’s narrative in the production of our marketing materials designed from the prospectus to exhibition identities. Additionally, we want the studio to contribute to a more research-driven approach and produce outputs tailored to the school’s request across research centers, creative laboratories, and other relevant research groups. You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of layout, print, print and digital production techniques. The studio will provide industry-relevant experience to the school’s undergraduate students through a mix of internal and external client-facing projects. You will have excellent communication and teamwork skills and have the ability to support a variety of design-related projects for the school as well as for external clients as required.
You will have a relevant degree in graphic design, a range of relevant design results, experience of layout and print and an understanding of print and digital production techniques.
You will be joining a small but highly motivated team with great support opportunities for personal development.
This position is based on a fixed-term, full-time contract of 12 months. This post is intended to give you valuable experience, develop your interpersonal skills in a design environment, provide direction and guidance before starting your career in marketing or a related field elsewhere and/or to help improve your resume. Unfortunately, this is not a training contract and there is no possibility of a permanent contract at the end of the training period.
